Terms & Conditions

These terms apply when you use Dhajaya. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. About the site

Dhajaya is an independent public platform where people vote on public matters and suggest topics. See our About and Methodology pages for how it works.

2. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over.
  • Give accurate information and keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person, one account. Fake, shared or multiple accounts are not allowed.
  • You may log in with Google, Facebook or email. Their own terms apply to their services.

3. Voting

  • You may vote once on each poll.
  • Do not use bots, scripts, fake accounts or any other method to change or inflate results.
  • We may remove votes we believe are invalid, and suspend the accounts involved.

4. Topics you suggest

  • Anyone may suggest a topic. We are not obliged to publish it.
  • Moderators may reject, reword or merge a topic and change its voting structure, as explained in the Methodology.
  • Topics must be about matters, not people. No personal attacks, accusations against named individuals, hate speech or attacks on communities.
  • Suggestions are anonymous unless you choose to be named.

5. Comments and other content

  • You are responsible for what you post. Keep it respectful, truthful to the best of your knowledge, and about the matter.
  • Do not post anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful, threatening or misleading, or anyone’s private details.
  • You keep ownership of your content, but you give us permission to display, edit for clarity or length, and remove it as part of running the site.
  • We may remove any content, or close any poll, at our discretion.

6. What the results mean

Results show the views of people who chose to take part. They are not an official election, referendum or scientific survey, and carry no legal force. We do not guarantee that they represent the whole population, or that any organization or authority will act on them.

7. Reporting a problem

If you see a poll or comment that is unlawful, unfair or targets a person or group, contact us. We will review it and act as we think appropriate.

8. Privacy

Your personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Our content and rights

The site’s design, name, logo and text belong to Dhajaya. Poll results may be shared and quoted if you credit Dhajaya and link to the poll, without changing their meaning. Anything beyond that needs our written permission.

10. Availability and links

We aim to keep the site running, but we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. The site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content.

11. Suspension and ending

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, harms the site or other users, or is used unlawfully. You may close your account at any time from your account settings.

12. Our responsibility

The site is provided ‘as is’. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the site, from content posted by users, or from decisions made using poll results.

13. Law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. We may update these terms, and will show a notice and the new date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site means you accept the changes.
